Abstract:

A review of the design considerations, standards, specifications, and important implementations that apply to File Type registries, definition and harvesting of file types in repositories, Tools and Workflow Registries, and the inventorisation and description of Platforms for processing of data. An information model is derived to describe the definitions and interrelationships between the actors, concepts, and objects that are in scope for these topics, and the recommendations define the scope of work required for implementation by work packages and participating repositories in the EOSC Data Commons project.

The work is a foundational input to the objective of automating the matching of datasets with applicable tools and workflows, and automation of its deployment to platforms that can support its execution.
